Cutest day ever!

In Minnesota, my bedroom is in the basement, and my window is partially underground. So there's this pit of doom around it and these two chipmunks totally fell in today. I did eventually make a branch latter so they could climb out, but I had to take pictures first because CHIPMUNKS ARE SO CUTE AAAAAGH. And they make the cutest chirp chirp noise, awww.

Yeah, the quality sucks, I only had my crappy cameraphone.

What a week!

This has been a pretty unproductive week, I must say. In all, I will have had only two days of class. Nobody had class on Tuesday because it was advisement day, and I didn't go today because my knee was a world of pain and I had to go to the doctor. I'm hoping I'm not horribly behind in any of my classes, because my academic performance hasn't really been that great this semester anyway.

Currently I'm watching the new episode of Lost a.k.a. the Best Thing on TV Ever. This show has been infamous for hour long shows where the plot was only forwarded a tiny tiny amount. It was insanely frustrating, but still I watched to see the few small answers that they would offer. This episode has been absolutely INSANE. So much has happened and my mind is completely blown.

 Eeeee what's gonna happen??

Flavor of Mediocrity

I go to school in Menomonie, Wisconsin…and seeing as we aren't exactly the most diversde town in the world, the nearest Indian Restaurant is in Eau Claire (about 30 minutes away). So, since we didn't have any class today, a couple friends and I took a trip to Flavor of India for their lunch buffet. I have to say, I was not very impressed. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good at all either. The selection of dishes wasn't very broad (no lamb curry :( :( :( ) the Chicken Tikka Masala was okay, but very bland. The shrimp curry was way too watery. It was also not spicy at ALL, not even mildly spicy…the spice was nonexistant. They did have unlimited nan, which made me a little happy.

Also, the space was kind of uninviting and they had this really generic and vague piano music which kept driving me crazy because it sounded just familiar enough to bother the shit of me, but so vague that I couldn't figure out what the songs were. I think one sounded similar to some Safri Boys song, but I can't be completely sure….Joel thought it was a Donna summers song, what the fuck, Joel.

All in all, unless India tastes like disappointment, I think the restaurant should rename themselves to Lack of Flavor of India.

So in my quest to add to the number of Bollywood movies I have seen, I got the opportunity to view the lovely Rohan Sippy film featuring the even more lovely Abhishek Bachchan. I had heard of it before, but for some reason I got the idea that it wasn't very good. Well, that idea was completely deleted from my consciousness.

The plot was pretty interesting, and the soundtrack was superb. I thought that Mr. Bachchan did an excellent job of playing a conman at the end of his game. The songs were not overly obtrusive, and fit pretty well with the the feel of the movie. I enjoyed the remixing of some vintage Bollywood classics like (I'm going to spell this wrong) Inna Minna Dikka. And Sabse Bada Rupaiyya was also a very enjoyable introduction to the character of Roy.

I saw an article today about Bollywoods move from numerous musical numbers which may or may not completely draw attention away from the actual plot of the film, to more background and narrative songs without the flashy dance number and gratuitous costume-changes. In my personal opinion, the flashy dance numbers and gratuitous costume-changes are awesome and are part of what I love about Indian cinema. However, if this change makes the world take Bollywood more seriously, then so be it. Just as long as I still get some cheesy monologues and totally unrealistic musical numbers. Maybe they'll find a good middle ground.

Gratuitous Abhishek Bachchan picture time…

First Post!

Hello hello,

Yes, I am starting yet another blog. This time it’s going to be good, though. Livejournal has become more like Whinejournal, so I’m done with that whole deal.

For my first post, here is the cutest thing ever.
