It’s been so long since I updated this blog. I’m not really surprised though, because I’ve always been bad at keeping diaries, journals, blogs, etc. I’m actually quite poor at habit and routine in general, though I have been working to improve this.
Let me make this easy for everyone, because to describe in detail all the things that have occured since my lasty update…would take about 800 years. And then I would have to address all that happened in those 800 years; which would take ANOTHER 15,000 years. By that time, nobody will even be listening…much like what I’m sure is happening right now. But I digress!
Things that have been going on:
- Midway through first semester at the U of M, I changed my major to Asian Languages and Literature with a South Asian concentration
- This is totally awesome, and I love my classes and professors. Bahut achchha hai!
- I’m going to be studying intermediate Hindi at Madison for two months this summer
- I’ve actually made friends in some classes and developed my existing friendships, especially with my girl friends.
- Girl friends are really awesome to have!!!
- Over winter break, I ended up dating the cute waiter from my favorite middle-eastern cafe
- It was really awesome for three weeks
- Then he stopped calling
- So that’s over!
- The day after my breakup,my mom and I bought a puppy, I named her Bindi and she rules.

And here’s the best part!!!
I’M GOING TO BE AN AUNT. My brother and his girlfriend are going to be having a kid in October. I..well I don’t know if I can say that I never thought this would happen, but I had no idea it would happen this soon! I was afraid I’d be the only hope for grandchildren, and I don’t even know if I’m going to be having kids!
I seriously can’t wait though, I don’t really have a gender preference. I just hope I get to be part of their life. I also think my brother’s girlfriend is a wonderful person, and from watching my brother interact with her daughter…I know he’s going to be a great father.
Here’s the best part. In Hindi, I’ll be the kid’s Fufi. And the person I end up marrying will be the “Fufa.” Here’s what I’m thinking, best pickup line ever. “Hey baby, would you like to be the Fufa of my Bhatija?” Who would be able to resist??
